It appears a fight may really be on the horizon for Floyd Mayweather and Connor McGregor.
According MMAFighting.com is prepared to put his MMA career on hold to face off against Mayweather.
“That fight is more than just being explored,” McGregor said from Manchester. “That fight has been in the works awhile now. Look, there’s a lot of steps to get through to get the fight going, but it’s the fight to make. It’s the fight the people want. It’s the fight I want. I know I’m confident going in there.
“I’ve got the reach. I’ve got youth. I’ve got the confidence. I’ve got the unpredictable style. You can’t prepare for a style like me. A guy said to me, why conquer one world when you can conquer two? So I’m going to go conquer two worlds.”
Hours later, Mayweather told reporter Jim Gray that he also wants the fight against McGregor.
“Can we make this fight happen? Absolutely. That’s what everyone wants to see,” Mayweather said. “Of course, Showtime is the biggest and best in the business. So with Showtime PPV, hopefully we can make it happen.”
If they fought, Mayweather said, it would be at 147 or 150 pounds.
“I truly believe the fans want this fight,” Mayweather said. “The fans have been asking for this fight. It’s all about entertainment. He’s very entertaining. He’s very outspoken like myself, so let’s give the fans what they want to see.”
The more the two talk up the fight, the bigger the buzz grows. If it does happen in late 2017 as both have hinted, it would be among the biggest sporting events of all time.
