Broner Loses Title On Scale, Fight Still On

And the woes for Adrien Broner continue… At Thursday’s weigh-in for his Friday night match-up against Ashley Theophane, Broner failed to make the 140-lb weight limit coming in at 140.4. Given the standard 2 hours to lose the addition .4, Broner declined to return to the scales thus forfeiting the WBA world super lightweight title. Theophane now not only has the opportunity to win the vacant title but will pocket an addition undisclosed amount of Broner’s purse according to ESPN’s Dan Raphael. This is the second time Broner has been stripped of a title in his professional career for failing to make the divisional weight limit.
