Broner Loses Title On Scale, Fight Still On

And the woes for Adrien Broner continue… At Thursday’s weigh-in for his Friday night match-up against Ashley Theophane, Broner failed to make the 140-lb weight limit coming in at 140.4. Given the standard 2 hours to lose the addition .4, Broner declined to return to the scales thus forfeiting the WBA world super lightweight title. Theophane now not only has the opportunity to win the vacant title but will pocket an addition undisclosed amount of Broner’s purse according to ESPN’s Dan Raphael. Smith/Theophane Post Wins On Special Edition Of FNF

Former junior middleweight champion Ishe Smith defeated Cecil McCalla by unanimous decision Thursday night at the Palms Resort. Judges final scores 98-92, 97-93 and 97-93. Making his first appearance since separating with long time trainer Eddie Mustafa Muhammad Smith found himself tested throughout the bout but ultimately won battle. Smith is now trained by Danny Smith (no relation), who was already working his corner along with Muhammad. In the co-feature, despite scoring a knockdown at the close Mahonri Montes found himself on on the wrong side of the decision. Pacquiao Agrees to Terms For Mayweather Fight

Speaking to’s Dan Rafael Top Rank vice president Carl Morreti is reporting that Pacquiao and his team have agreed to terms for a May 2 bout. No reports or statements as of yet from Mayweather himself, Mayweather Promotions or any designee authorized to speak on his behalf.
