CA Judge Dismisses Golden Boy Anti-Trust Suit Against Haymon

The battle outside of the ring between Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions and Manager Al Haymon came to a close on Thursday as a California judge dismissed the the lawsuit claiming influential manager Al Haymon engaged in monopolistic practices. According to Lance Pugmire of the LA Times, U.S. District Judge John F. Walter wrote the following at the close of the 24 page decision. “Plaintiffs have been unable to present any evidence of harm to competition.” “Instead, plaintiffs have merely presented evidence of harm to themselves.” When proceedings began in May 2015, Golden Boy issued the following statement. “Since the moment Al Haymon launched [PBC earlier this year], he has repeatedly and brazenly…

The fight, a matchup that appeared to be fifty-fifty on paper when announced, evolved into a healthy scrap that largely favored Vargas.
