Mendez vs. Barthelemy Kick Off Friday Night Fights
MINNEAPOLIS, MN –
The 2014 season of ESPN’s Friday Night Fights kicks off this Friday with Argenis Mendez defending the IBF super featherweight title against undefeated Rances Barthelemy live from Minneapolis.
Mendez, who is promoted by Iron Mike Productions, looks to redeem himself in the ring with a decisively victory over Barthelemy after fighting to decision against Arash Usmanee to maintain the IBF title last August. A fight that could have gone either way.
The co-feature bout of the evening pits middleweight Caleb Truax against Ossie Duran who replaces original opponent Derek Ennis. (sidenote: Ennis has been largely in active after withdrawing from a fight against Demetrius Andrade in February 2012 and a defeat at the hands of Jonathan Gonzalez in January 2013.)
Also scheduled to appear on the card: Lamberth Ponce vs. Javontae Starks, 6 rounds, junior middleweights; Wilshaun Boxley vs. Tony Lee, 6 rounds, lightweights; Trevor Marmon vs. Adrian Martinez, 4 rounds, lightweights; Nate Richardson vs. Damion Hill, 4 rounds, welterweights; Erick Lubin vs. TBA, 4 rounds, welterweights; Dennis Galarza vs. TBA, 4 rounds, featherweights
