OXNARD, CA –

BadCulture.net has learned that current WBO super featherweight champion and Top Rank star Mikey Garcia filed suit on April 8, 2014 to separate from the promoter citing the Muhammad Ali act.

In documents obtained from Garcia’s attorney, Freedman + Taitelman, LLP, the suit alleges Top Rank:

“failed to make required disclosures to Garcia concerning, among other things, the amount of money it would make from each of Garcia’s bouts, therefore entitling Garcia to additional damages.”

Garcia was last seen in the ring in  January when he defeated Juan Carlos Burgos to retain the super featherweight belt. Recent talks of a bout against Yuriorkis Gamboa came to a stalemate when parties couldn’t come to an agreement on financial terms.
